Bay Area Brony Spectacular
- BABSCon 2019 is on Guidebook! Download the Guidebook app onto your iOS or Android mobile device, or just browse it on the web to get all the info you need. Plan your con, stay informed, get alerts… all free to you!
- The Con Book is also available in handy-dandy PDF form, usable on any computer, mobile device, or the book-reader of your choice.
- This year’s theme: Cyberpunk Ponies…CYBERPONIES! Call it cyberspace or the metaverse, it's all abbout the blinkenlights and looks with enough edge they could score glass. The transequine age is here.
- Da Rules™. Here's our Code of Conduct. Learn it, love it, live it. (It's also in Guidebook!)
- Our Schedule of Events. Just wanna browse the web without using the awesome BABSCon 2018 Guidebook? You can still use this old-fashioned link to see what's going on when. But Guidebook is still the way to go…hint, hint!
- Our Vendor Area. (Also available in Guidebook…you may sense a pattern developing here.) Plan where to spend all your bits…ALL OF THEM!
- With the epic Queen Quake trilogy over, our heroic mascots—Golden Gates, Silver Span, and Copper Chip—will find no rest. A new danger arises threatening to burn away the peace so recently found. Watch during Opening Ceremonies Saturday, April 20, at 10 AM on the Mane Stage to see a new saga begin and how you will decide the outcome.
- 6-2-1. "What's 6-2-1?" we hear you ask. Simple…for every day of the con, every attendee (or staffer) should get at least: 6 hours of sleep, 2 nutritious meals, and 1 shower. AT. LEAST. No, a Red Bull and some Cheetos doesn't qualify as a "nutritious meal." People collapsing of exhaustion, low blood sugar, or dehydration don't have a lot of fun, and people who don't shower make things less fun for everyone around them. So…6-2-1, savvy?
- Stay Hydrated! In the same vein as 6-2-1 above, look for hydration stations and water service stations throughout the con space and the hotel to fill your water bottles and stay healthy.
- ENJOY BABSCon 2019!!

]]>Mike, once Hasbro’s VP of Development, had an epiphany during a visit to Burning Man that he wanted to be a creative again, so he joined the writing corps for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and related titles in Season 6. Highlights include co-writing My Little Pony: The Movie; the episodes “A Hearth’s Warming Tail,” co-writing “Stranger Than Fan Fiction” with Josh Haber, “To Where and Back Again,” “School Daze,” and the “Best Gift Ever” special. And, oh yeah, he’s also written several MLP storybooks and is half of Ponyville Mysteries writing duo called Penumbra Quill with fellow Guest Nicole Dubuc.
Josh joined the MLP writing room in Season 4 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Story Editor (animation-speak for “showrunner”) in Season 6, also co-editing Seasons 7-8. Some of his best include “Castle Mane-ia,” “The Cutie Re-Mark,” “The Crystalling,” co-writing “To Where and Back Again” with Mike Vogel (what a team!), “Shadow Play,” “Road to Friendship,” part 2 of “School Raze,” and Equestria Girls: The Friendship Games. ]]>Known to MLP fans as Applejack’s dad, Bright Mac, grumpy changeling Pharynx, and the big bad Pony of Shadows, but Bill’s been making a splash since his debut in the voice acting industry. Some of his roles have included Toby in the Minecraft miniseries, Challenge of the Spooky Isles and Mystery of the Greek Isles, Zac the Sunrise on Beyblade Burst, Simon Puggerson on Littlest Pet Shop: A World of Our Own, and more. He’s also mighty entertaining when streaming on his Twitch channel and on Twitter.
Bill joins Guests of Honor, Maurice LaMarche, Tabitha St. Germain, Rebecca Shoichet, Kazumi Evans, Shannon Chan-Kent, Nicole Dubuc, Brian Hohlfeld, Andy Price, Tony Fleecs, Agnes Garbowska, and Sara Richard.

]]>Andy, the all-star original artist on the My Little Pony comics lines is making his triumphant return! In addition to working on every single My Little Pony comics property from IDW starting with the very first arc, Andy Price has also lent his creative talents to Archie Comics. Point of fact, he’s teamed up with fellow MLP Comic Creative Katie Cook for a brand new adventure starring Sabrina the Teenage Witch!
Agnes can only be called a newcomer to the world of MLP comics compared to Andy…she’s also provided the interior and cover art for a wide selection of issues in virtually every IDW MLP title. But she’s also worked on such diverse titles as DC Superhero Girls, Jem and the Holograms, and the tastiest spider-person of all: Spider-Ham. She’s done covers for far more comics, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Transformers, GI Joe, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, and Dexter’s Laboratory.
Andy & Agnes join Guests of Honor Maurice LaMarche, Tabitha St. Germain, Rebecca Shoichet, Kazumi Evans, Shannon Chan-Kent, Nicole Dubuc, Brian Hohlfeld, Tony Fleecs, and Sara Richard.
With a guest list like that, you’re going to want to register now—maybe grab one of the remaining sponsor badges while they last—and book that hotel room. We might have so much fun that we (gasp!) color outside the lines!

]]>Bronies know Kazumi as the singing voice of Rarity and Luna, and the speaking (and singing!) voices of lead siren Adagio Dazzle in Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks, plus Octavia, Moondancer, and Roseluck. Animation fans will also recognize her as the voice of Skipper in the Barbie and Her Sisters series, Iris in LoliRock, and Amanda in Dr. Dimensionpants.
Shannon, meanwhile, is the singing voice of Ponyville’s party planner, Pinkie Pie, on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, as well as the speaking voices of Silver Spoon and Smolder the dragon. In the recent Equestria Girls – Forgotten Friendship, she voiced the villainous Wallflower Blush. You might also know her as Misa Amane in the English dub of Death Note, both Biskit Twins in Littlest Pet Shop, and Trixie in Slugterra. She’s also appeared on screen in shows including The Crossing and the Freeform adaptation of Misfits.
Kazumi and Shannon join Tabitha St. Germain, Maurice LaMarche, Rebecca Shoichet (completing the trio of MLP’s “singing voice of…” VAs), Nicole Dubuc, Brian Hohlfeld, Tony Fleecs, and Sara Richard so far among our Guests of Honor.
So register now to make beautiful music with us this April 19-22, and book your hotel room. Don’t forget that our remaining sponsor-level packages will give you a truly premium experience, so snap them up while they last!

]]>Nicole, fresh from her triumphant tour of Nepal, where she met actual yaks, has been a writer (“Shadow Play,” “School Daze,” “School Raze,” etc.), story editor (Season 8) and executive producer (Season 8) for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. But she is so much more than that…an early employee of Hasbro Studios, she wrote for Transformers: Prime, and developed Transformers: Rescue Bots for the studio. She’s written for a bewildering array of shows, including Star Wars Rebels, Kim Possible, Young Justice, and is developing The Rocketeer, debuting this fall. Her career has also included on-screen and voice roles going back to her childhood.
Brian, a new writer for MLP:FiM in Season 8, wrote the episodes “The Hearth’s Warming Club” and “Surf and/or Turf,” the latter of which was nominated for a Humanitas Prize! He’s written for TV and movies for decades, including the 1991 film He Said, She Said, starring Kevin Bacon, and The Heffalump Movie & Piglet’s Big Movie as part of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh franchise. He was the creator of My Friends Tigger and Pooh (from which the episode “Eeyore’s Sad Day” won a Humanitas Prize!), the co-developer of Transformers: Rescue Bots, and has been nominated for three Daytime Emmys and an Annie Award.
Nicole and Brian join Guests of Honor Maurice LaMarche, Tabitha St. Germain, Rebecca Shoichet, Tony Fleecs, and Sara Richard as they help the BABSCon staff try to make 2019 the best year yet.

]]>He’s the legendary Maurice LaMarche, and he’s several of the voices you’ve grown up with. In addition to playing Chancellor Neighsay on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, just a few of his notable roles include The Brain on Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs; Kif Kroker, Calculon, Morbo, and many more on Futurama; Abradolf Lincler, Morty Jr., and more on Rick and Morty; Egon Spengler on The Real Ghostbusters, and way too many to tell you about here. Additionally, any time you hear Orson Welles animated, it’s almost certainly Maurice: The Critic, Futurama, The Simpsons, and even dubbed over the on-screen body of Vincent D’Onofrio in the live-action film, Ed Wood. (True story!)
In short, we couldn’t be happier to give you the pony con debut of voice acting royalty.
Maurice joins Tabitha St. Germain and Rebecca Shoichet among our guests of honor, and you can expect many more announcements over the next couple of months, so watch this space.
Register now, give the gift of BABSCon to your friends and family, book your hotel room and have the happiest of holidays, from our family to yours. (Note: Taking over the world optional.)
